For most of my life I had low self-esteem and considered myself \"unattractive\". This poor self-image changed about 6 months ago. One night, a photographer friend of mine started taking photos of me in a playful spontaneity, coaxing me to âœposeâ for her.
Later, my friend showed me these photos, and I was startled by the way I looked. âœThat couldnâ™t be me,â I thought. In this state of disbelief, I was further astounded when my friend then suggestedâ"in all seriousnessâ"that I had the potential photogenic features to be a successful model, and she encouraged me to submit them to some people she knew in the fashion industry.
I reluctantly took her suggestion and submitted my photos to other photographers and agencies, and to my shock and delight I received overwhelming positive feedback, including multiple offers for test-shoots, projects, and other opportunities. I could not believe it! Until then, a career as a model was more than a fantasy to me, it was an absurd impossibility. At that moment, I started to realize that, after all these years of having a belief that I was not âœprettyâ, I realized it was just that, a belief which was flawed due to low self-image issues. I was thrilled as I began to feel that not only was I not unattractive, but that I could potentially pursue a career that I never remotely dreamed of or could have ever hoped for.
Unfortunately, at this same time, due to unfortunate circumstances involving outstanding debt, I have been evicted from my home. Although I have an eviction judgment against me, it has yet to be enforced. My landlord has informed me that he will not withdraw his court order for possession unless I pay him all back rent. And so, I am going to be homeless, with less than $100 in my pocket before the end of this week, as the judgment will be enforced this week. So without the needed funds, not only will I lose the opportunity to have a fulfilling career, but I will be literally on the street, seeking shelter during this winter.
With the donations I receive, I will pay my landlord what is owed and with this second chance, I intend to vigorously pursue a career that was only a dream to me before.
